Purpose of the Role To provide support to the underwriter and assistant underwriters and 
to create and maintain syndicate records
Reports to Head of Specialty
Job Details Permanent full-Time position. Atrium offers all permanent employees 
the chance to work flexibly through our charter for flexible working
Authority Level Authority to accept risks in accordance with individual underwriting 
authority
Key Tasks Slip copying and scanning
Creating quotes
Mapping of data
Pre-underwriting risk data analysis
Creating partial entries
Entry of risk data into underwriting system
Entry of aggregate data onto the appropriate systems
Management of filing and data storage
Answer queries from credit control department
Liaising with brokers as necessary
Processing of USM signings
Creation and monitoring of renewal list report 
Accepting endorsements and risks on behalf of Marine Underwriters

Able to input data and maintain records with a high degree of accuracy and

Able to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with brokers, 
underwriters and other staff.

Able to analyse and interpret financial information.

Able to operate at all times to the standards and rules of the regulatory 
bodies and those set out in the firm’s standards documents

Knowledge of Marine and Marine & Energy Liability insurance appropriate 
to the role
Developing an understanding of the insurance market, industry and people

Developing knowledge of the standards and rules of the regulatory bodies 
and those set out in the firm’s standards documents
Knowledge of the types of business transacted by the syndicate
IT skills (Word, Excel and other software packages used within the 
business)
