Job Summary
As a Development Surveyor you will learn to skills to be involved in and lead numerous projects to reinstate properties following damage by an insured peril. Projects typically range in value from £50k to £5m. Dependent on the size and complexity of each project.
We will give provide you with the training and tools to work towards handling a wide range of surveying activities, ranging from technical reporting, defects diagnosis, preparing Schedule of Works, contract administration and project management.
However, you will already be able to empathise with clients who may have suffered a loss or bereavement but then able to turn around professional reporting within tight timescales. As well as an ability to manage a workload and make reasoned decisions under pressure.
Job Description
- Working towards MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor
- A building related Degree
- An interest in sustainability and a passion to assist our plans to reach net carbon zero
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Knowledge of building construction and relevant legislation
- Able to plan projects to ensure robust control of time, cost and quality
- Experience in schedule preparation and contract administration of building projects
- Highly responsible and decisive, but also a team player
- Able to proactively manage your own caseload
- I.T. literate, particularly with MS Word and Excel
- Able to appreciate the importance of delivering outstanding customer service
- The ability to arrive on site immediately following a significant building loss and quickly earn the confidence and trust of the insurance policy holder is essential to the success of this role. Composure under pressure, excellent communications skills and empathy are therefore key attributes.
