About the Role
We are working with a respected Lloyd’s market insurer who is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to join their Crisis Management team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their insurance career looking to develop technical underwriting support skills and gain broad exposure across operations, compliance, and broker engagement.

This position plays a vital role in supporting Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters with the day-to-day administration of the portfolio, ensuring accurate data entry, document management, and compliance with Lloyd’s and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter underwriting risk data into internal systems, including new risk set-up, amendments and aggregate entries
  • Maintain accurate records, scan and attach documents, and ensure both paper and electronic files are well-organised
  • Monitor internal reports, chasing brokers and underwriters for missing information or corrections
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards, including sanctions checks
  • Input and manage bordereaux data, following up with brokers and coverholders on outstanding reports
  • Assist in credit control processes by monitoring payments and liaising with brokers
  • Support the team with reporting, preparing materials for meetings, and other administrative duties
  • Cleanse risk schedules for aggregate entry and quotation
  • Maintain and monitor aggregate reports and limits
Skills and Experience Required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident, professional and proactive approach
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Team-oriented with a strong willingness to learn and contribute
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing demands
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word)
  • Familiarity with e-placing platforms and digital documentation systems is beneficial
  • Minimum GCSEs in Maths and English; A-Level or equivalent education preferred
  • Prior experience working in a team-based office or insurance environment is desirable
